He Shou Wu "Fo Ti" ~ Tonic Herb of Longevity
This Fo Ti powder is known as "White Fo-Ti" which is the uncured, unprocessed and raw root ( firm, coarse, and light brown to beige in colour.)
Other He Shou Wu available "Red Fo-Ti" is prepared through curing the roots in black bean sauce (with soy oil), which results in a more stronger version, but also increasing the sugar content. The two forms are said to have somewhat different properties.

He Shou Wu is also always known as Fo-ti, Fo-ti-teng, or Ho Shou Wu. He shou wu literally means "black-haired Mr. He" in Chinese and refers to an ancient legend of a villager named Mr. He who ate fo-ti roots and lived to the age of 130 with youthful appearance, sexual potency and vitality and died with black hair.
He Shou Wu is the prepared tuberous root of Polygonum multiflorum, a large vining plant that grows in the mountains of central and southern China.
It is one of the words most richest "Longevity herbs" and is one of China's great four herbal tonics. Like the Goji Berry, Ginseng and Reishi, it is a powerful jing tonic (Yin essence.)

A typical dose of He shou wu is 3 g of the raw herb 3 times daily, the raw herb is said to be more effective for constipation.
We love this and have it often! Mix 1/2 – 1 tsp once or twice daily in food or liquid. Mix 1/4 teaspoon into hot water for a coffee-like drink, add nut milk and sweetener for a latte, cacao powder for mocca style.
